HELENA–The city of Helena will soon be getting a brand new Marathon service station located off Shelby County 52 across the street from Cahaba Lily Park.

The gas station will be equipped with four two-sided pumps and the end pumps will also carry diesel fuel.

Cornerstone Construction Management, LLC is building the gas station and convenience store and representative with Cornerstone Michael Williams was onsite Thursday, Aug. 13, to discuss details of what was being constructed.

“The gas station will be four two-sided pumps and the end pump will also have diesel which is needed out here,” said Williams. “There’s two easy ways to get in and out and it will have a Sneaky Pete’s in it so everyone will be excited about that. This will be a convenience store and it’ll have drinks, coffee and everything that a convenience store would normally have.”

In addition to the convenience store, Williams confirmed that a separate 1,500 square-foot space would be available for rent connected to the convenience store that has already gathered interest from various businesses.

“The store should open sometime in mid-September to mid-October depending on the equipment arrival and all that,” said Williams.

The gas station will also accept the Fuelman program that many businesses and drivers are fond of using.

Helena Mayor Mark Hall said he was excited about the Marathon gas station coming to the Helena area.

“I am very excited about this new business that will soon be open here in Helena,” said Hall. “New businesses are essential for providing people more choices and more importantly, adding much needed additional sales tax revenue for the city.”

There are approximately 5,300 Marathon-branded locations in 19 states in the Midwest and Southeast, according to Marathon’s website.

The gas station will be located at 490 Riverwoods Court in Helena.
