WESTOVER—Drivers who use Shelby County 55 will soon have to plan a different route. Starting Monday, July 27, the Shelby County Highway Department will close the road for bridge repairs.
The project will be focused on a roughly 500-foot stretch of road, including a bridge over Muddy Prong Creek, Shelby County Highway Department Senior Engineer Mark Endfinger confirmed.
“We’re replacing the bridge on that section of road,” Endfinger said.
The road will close on July 27, and will remain closed for the duration of the project, which could take up to four months to complete, Endfinger said.
Throughout the closure, drivers can take a detour to U.S. 280, using Shelby County 450 to Shelby County 51 onto U.S. 280.
