FROM STAFF REPORTS

MONTEVALLO–The Parnell Memorial Library in Montevallo is now able to accommodate more patrons’ technology needs, thanks to the addition of 13 new computers and monitors.

The new computers came to Parnell courtesy of a Library Services and Technology Grant for Library Technology and Automation. The grant also added three additional staff computers to make patron transactions more streamlined and efficient.

“We are very excited about the new computers,” said library director Allie Williams. “So many of our patrons depend on us completely for internet access, because they do not have a computer at home or cannot afford monthly Internet charges. It has been a huge help to have new, reliable computers for our patrons to use to fill out job applications, go on Facebook, update their resumes, do their schoolwork or even play games. We welcome everyone to come down and try them out.”

Parnell Memorial Library experiences heavy computer use, with hundreds of logins monthly.
