ALABASTER – Alabaster’s two elementary schools are encouraging parents to register their incoming kindergarten students now to avoid the late-summer rush, and to help with class placement for the upcoming school year.
Creek View Elementary School is open for registration of new students from Tuesdays-Thursdays from 8-11 a.m. and from noon-2:30 p.m.
Meadow View Elementary School is open for registration of new students from Mondays-Thursdays from 7 a.m.-noon and from 1-3 p.m. and on Fridays from 7-11 a.m.
CVES Principal Charissa Cole said the city’s schools are encouraging parents to register in June, as school administrators will work on class placements after receiving registration information.
“We make decisions on class placement during the summer, and we want to find the best class placement for each student,” Cole said during a June 10 interview. “If they are a new student and they are in the Alabaster school zone, they can go ahead and come in. If everyone could come in June, that would be really helpful.”
To register a student, parents will need the child’s original birth certificate, original blue immunization form, Social Security card (optional), two current proofs of residence, custody documents (if applicable) and withdrawal papers from a previous school if the new student previously attended another elementary school.
After registering at school, parents will receive an email with a code and instructions on completing the registration process online.
