Three on a String, the well-know, well-loved bluegrass band from Birmingham, are back on tour and making an appearance at the Shelby County Arts Council (SCAC) for another engrossing, hilarious evening.
These spirited performers will bring their humor and talent to the Shelby County community on Saturday, June 13 at 8 p.m.
The band began with Jerry Ryan, guitar player and vocalist, who was soon joined by Bobby Horton, instrument aficionado.
Ryan’s son, Brad, watched his father and friend perform for years before becoming their regular bass player and tenor singer.
This energetic band performs at mostly corporate events and private parties, including the Alabama Symphony, Southern Company, the University of Alabama, the Southern Governors Conference and Ross Bridge Renaissance Hotel.
They have continued playing together through various stages of life and various outside interests, for nearly 45 years.
In its traditional style, the show maintains its bluegrass roots and incorporates charming, comical skits, blending music and banter for a seamless, engaging performance.
“We do skits and songs we are currently doing, and have done for years,” Ryan states. “It’s not like we’re trying to establish a career. We’re just trying to remember one.”
Remember it they do, with practiced ease and true delight.
This trio loves what they do; something that is immediately apparent as soon as they step on the stage.
Come June 13 for a show you’ll never forget. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets are going quickly, so buy yours today on the Shelby County Arts Council website, Shelbycountyartscouncil.com, or by calling (205) 669-0044.
