HELENA–School might be out for the summer, but as any athlete knows, the summer can be a great time to work on skills and use the time to get better physically and mentally to prepare for the upcoming sports seasons.
One way for students to get involved this summer is through two skills camps for wrestling and football that will take place in June and July.
The first skills camp is the Husky Wrestling Skills Camp that will take place June 8-10 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Helena High School gym.
The wrestling camp is open to any athletes in grades first through sixth. The cost of the camp is $75 and registration and payment will take place on the first day of camp.
Those attending the camp will receive fundamental instruction from coaches on various wrestling techniques and athletes are encouraged to bring a snack and water bottle.
Checks should be made payable to Helena High School with the title “wrestling camp.”
The Husky Football Skills Camp will be a non-contact football camp taking place on Saturday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at Husky Stadium on the campus of Helena High School.
The camp is open to any athletes in grades first through sixth. Pre-registration is $25 and includes a camp shirt. The deadline to register is July 1. Walk-up registration is $30 and does not include a shirt.
Athletes should bring cleats, tennis shoes, water bottle, shorts, shirt and a great attitude.
The camp will include fundamental instruction from coaches and senior football players, instruction on all football positions, weight training and nutrition information. The camp will conclude with a punt, pass and kick competition.
Checks for the camp should be made payable to Helena High School with the title “football camp.”
