HELENA–Residents of Helena who might have unwanted trash or electronics that will not be picked up by regular waste will have a chance to dispose of them on Saturday, May 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Helena Sports Complex in the lower area parking lot.
The free waste disposal is intended for items such as small kitchen appliances with plugs, electronic devices and much more.
Dumpsters will be provided by Republic Services and will be available for you to dispose of the things that will not go in your regular household garbage.
Technical Knock Out of Birmingham will also be at the clean-up day to take electronic devices that need to be disposed of. There is a $7 charge for computer monitor disposal and Technical Knock Out will not take TVs. All other electronics can be disposed of for free.
The city encourages residents to take advantage of the free clean-up and to haul all of the old junk that might’ve been accumulated over the years to the sports complex.
“Last year we carried out tons of trash,” said Helena Mayor Mark Hall. “Republic services is helping sponsor the event and there will be city staff there to help assist in the clean-up.”
Due to environmental regulations, no corrosives, batteries, tires or paints will be accepted.
The free event is for the city of Helena residents only and no contractors are allowed.
