The Shelby County Sheriffs Department arrested 62-year-old David Alan Dunaway of Calera, on charges of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

The crime was allegedly committed between June 20 and Sept. 21, 2014 and a grand jury issued warrants for Dunaway’s arrest on Jan. 22.

Dunaway was arrested at his home on Pine Valley Drive in Calera, at approximately 10:26 a.m. on Jan. 27.

Dunaway was taken to the Shelby County Sheriffs office and was released the same day on bonds totaling $15,000.

Dunaway’s court date is set for Thursday, February 12 at 2 p.m.

Sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old is a Class B felony and if convicted Dunaway could face up to 20 years in prison.
