Those looking for a job in the Birmingham area will have a chance to interview for positions with several Aldi grocery stores, including stores in Pelham and Alabaster, during an upcoming hiring fair.

Aldi will host the hiring event on Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hampton Inn at 4520 Galleria Boulevard in Hoover.

During the event, Aldi will hire manager trainees for its stores in Alabaster, Pelham, Hoover, Birmingham, Bessemer, Fultondale, Homewood and Hueytown.

Applicants must be 18 years or older, must have a high school diploma or GED, must be available to work anytime between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. any day of the week, must be able to lift at least 45 pounds and must pass a drug screening and background check.

For manager trainees, who have the opportunity to advance to store manager positions, prior management and retail experience is preferred.

Manager trainees earn $20 per hour, or $41,600 per year, and store managers can earn from $75,000 to $85,000 per year.

Aldi employees who work at least 25 hours a week receive full health insurance, dental coverage and a 401k retirement plan.
