Charlotte Marie Wood
Alabaster
Charlotte Marie Wood, also known as C.C., Char, and Meme, was born Feb. 22, 1947 in Birmingham and went to be with the Lord on Nov. 16.
There is no doubt this woman was met in Heaven by her parents Percy and June Drake; her nephew, Ronny Weems; and her grandchildren, Eric Brashears and Madison McKenzie.
She was survived by an incredible amount of family which included her husband, Sonny Wood; brother, Mack Drake (Barbara); sister, Jan May (Beau); daughters, Candice Lewis (Lou), Carmell Cantrell (Jon), Taffie Brashears (Bob), Ginger Strange (Brian), and Stephanie Roberts (Charles); sons, Jeremy Wood (Dawn) and Josh Wood (LaShea), as well as two nephews, two nieces, 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
This loving, yet feisty woman was respected by the real estate market, loved by her family and feared by Multiple Myeloma of which she beat this year. At her time of rest, she was surrounded by loved ones and will be greatly missed.
“So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
The funeral service was Wednesday, Nov. 19 at Ridout’s Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, and burial followed at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale.
