Arts Council hosting slew of events

With football in the air and the holiday’s just around the corner, the Shelby County Arts Council is putting together an array of events and classes on the calendar.
In October, the SCAC starts off with the fall Pinterest Class (Oct. 1), followed by the Historic Shelby County Photography Exhibit (Oct. 11).
The exhibit is part of the Alabama Historical Associations Fall Pilgrimage. The Birmingham based band Groove Daddy takes the stage(Oct. 24) They perform an energetic mix of rhythm and blues, rock and roll, jazz, blues, Motown, ballads, blues, funk and contemporary gospel and Christian material. November brings Gabriel Tajeu for a return visit to the Black Box Theater.
His first performance in February was a complete sell out. Then onto December with the seventh annual artist market (Dec. 6), Three on a String (Dec. 13), Sam Pointer’s Acoustic Christmas (Dec. 20) and “Uh OH! Here Come Christmas” (Dec. 21).
Classes in painting, drawing, pottery and music are offered by the SCAC. All taught by professional artists and musicians. Students of all ages are invited to explore their creative side.
