A new pediatric office is opening in Chelsea on Oct. 3, and will be the first pediatric office in the area.

1 Summit Pediatric will be equipped with eight examination rooms and two waiting rooms with separate entrances for sick and well children.

Opening a pediatric office has been discussed for a number of years before a location was finally purchased in January on 134 Foothills Pkwy, according to the clinic’s owner.

Rekha Chadalawada will be one of three physicians rotating to the Chelsea location. The Chelsea clinic’s sister office is located in Sylacauga and the doctors and two nurse practitioners will switch up working at both locations.

“Our Chelsea office will have sick visits, well visits, allergy testing, ADHD testing, asthma testing, immunizations, ultrasound examinations and sports physicals,” said Chadalawada. “We plan on having at least one or two doctors being at the location at all times.”

The location of 1 summit is located off of U.S. 280. Some of the surrounding businesses include Dominos, Chelsea Eye Care and Dance South Studio.

Cynthia Dark, office manager at Sylacauga Pediatric for 27 years, will be rotating back and forth between offices and is excited about the opening of 1 Summit Pediatric.

“We are very excited about the office opening and to be serving Shelby County children in that area,” said Dark.

The hours of operation for the office will be Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon.
