Warrant: Butcher knife, box cutter used in domestic violence incident

CHELSEA—A Chelsea man was arrested on Sept. 9 and charged with domestic violence in the third degree and domestic violence by strangulation or suffocation.
Bradford Jude Delaune, 47, was arrested by Shelby County Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly did “recklessly cause physical injury” to the victim by “punching, choking, pulling hair out, box cutter to throat, butcher knife blade to face” during an incident, which occurred “on or about” Sept. 7, according to charging documents.
Delaune was also charged with allegedly “choking (the victim) with left hand to her throat and pulling hair with right hand,” according to documents.
Delaune is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $17,000, with a preliminary hearing before Judge Dan Reeves set for Oct. 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Domestic violence in the third degree is a Class A misdemeanor and domestic violence by strangulation/suffocation is a Class B felony.
If found guilty of the charges, Delaune could face up to 21 years in prison.
