“As each of you are aware, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has a representative on the Board of Directors for Shelby County 911. Since my election in 2003, I have served on that Board,” Curry wrote in a letter to commission members.

“My current term expired this past June but I have remained active on the Board. However, at this time I respectfully ask that you appoint John Samaniego as my representative on the Board,” Curry wrote.

Samaniego will run against Libertarian candidate Ken Bailey who is seeking to be added to the ballot for the general election.
