PELHAM—The Pelham Police and Fire departments have a new piece of exercise equipment, thanks to a donation from a citizen.

Pelham resident Claude Peacock donated two Burn Machines to the departments on July 9 as a way of thanking the police officer and firemen for all they do for the city.

“I thought, ‘what can I do for these guys?’ They have been so great to this area,” Peacock said.

Peacock discovered the Burn Machine while traveling, and thought the equipment might be something the Police and Fire departments would enjoy. The burn machine “emulates a boxer hitting a timing bag,” and gives the use a “full-body workout,” Peacock explained.

“Fitness is a major component of their jobs,” Peacock said. “Working out on a timing bag can be great for aerobics and upper body strength.”

Peacock delivered the Burn Machines to the departments on July 9 and the police officers and firemen tested out the equipment.

“These guys have really been the reason I stayed in the community,” Peacock said of the police and firemen, adding, “they’re one of the greatest things about Pelham.”
