Respect the flag

Dear Editor,
I have noticed over the past few months more and more people attempting to protest the United States Government, in different flawed ways. Some fly the flag upside down (this act is one of sedition, one step below treason), others by refusing to stand for the pledge of allegiance. I understand their frustration but differ greatly with their actions. Our most powerful acts of protest is a well thought out vote.
It is important to remember that if all Government officials lost their jobs the flag would not change. The flag is a living symbol of freedom and should never be disrespected. It unfortunately is disrespected everyday by well meaning, patriotic Americans because of ignorance, become educated about the flag @ betsyross.com. It is important to fly it high, proud and correct. Run for office and campaign for change. Vote every time there is an election. Be passionate for change, not rebelling disrespectfully. Flying the flag wrong or disrespecting it by not standing for it, in my opinion is no different than terrorist states spitting on it or burning it. We MUST be better citizens than that.
