NORTH SHELBY — Alabama 119 is closed in both directions after a car crash ruptured a natural gas pipeline April 10.
Traffic is being diverted at the intersections of Heardmont Park to the west and Shelby County 14 to the east, according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The area affected includes Oak Mountain elementary and middle schools. Gas is still escaping the pipeline and traveling west.
Oak Mountain Elementary School students are being sent to Oak Mountain Intermediate School and Oak Mountain Middle School students are being sent to Oak Mountain High School. Buses have been re-routed accordingly and parents may drop off children at the intermediate and high schools
The sheriff’s office said Alagasco crews are working to stop the gas leak. No one will be allowed into the affected area.
