FROM STAFF REPORTS
COLUMBIANA — As part of an on-site assessment by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office invites employees and members of the community to a public information session April 14 at 7 p.m. at the SCSO Training Center.
The sheriff’s office is due for an on-site assessment to verify that it meets professional standards. The accreditation program requires departments comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas — policies and procedures, administration, operations and support services.
Prior to the information session, the public may share comments by calling 670-6107 April 14 between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. Comments offered via phone will be taken by the CALEA assessment team.
Telephone comments and comments at the information session will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the sheriff’s office’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of those standards is available via Lt. Mike Hudson, accreditation manager, who can be reached at 670-6022.
Anyone who wishes to submit written comments may mail them to Commision on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc., 10302 Eaton Place, Suite 100, Fairfax, VA 22030-2201.
