MONTEVALLO—A 20-year-old Montevallo woman was arrested and charged with chemical endangerment of a child March 15.
Katelynn Elizabeth Lykes was arrested by the Shelby County Drug Task Force, and charged with “knowingly, recklessly, or intentionally” causing her unborn child to be “exposed to, to ingest or inhale, or to have contact with” methamphetamine and amphetamine after she tested positive for both drugs on Jan. 22.
Lykes posted a $15,000 bond on the day of her arrest, and was released from the Shelby County Jail in Columbiana.
Lykes has been charged with a class C felony, and if convicted, Lykes could face between one and 10 years for each charge.
