COLUMBIANA—Live music, beverages and hors d’oeuvres are just a few things offered at the opening of the Dream Mecca Gallery exhibit.
The opening will be held at the Shelby County Arts Council Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 13.
Matt Wiley, a jazz pianist with the Black Jacket Symphony and a piano instructor at the University of Alabama, will serenade guests as they enjoy the food and drinks and peruse the gallery.
The gallery features the Dream Mecca Artist group, which originates out of the Daniel Day Gallery in Birmingham.
“These are artists of varying styles, and we’ll feature paintings from each,” Shelby County Arts Council executive director Bruce Andrews said.
The artists will be at the event to speak with patrons about their work, and all of the paintings displayed are for sale.
“We’ve already sold one of the biggest pieces to a passerby,” Andrews said, and the gallery expects many more and the pieces to be sold at the opening.
Though the biggest portion of the sales goes to the artist, a small percentage will support the gallery.
“It’s pretty casual, and it will be a nice, pleasant evening,” said Andrews.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
