As a Pelham native, Feb. 20 was a sort of homecoming for Andrews Sports Medicine Dr. Emily Bell Casey.
“It’s special for met to get a chance to come back and serve the community,” Casey said during a ribbon cutting ceremony for Andrews Sports Medicine’s new location off U.S. 31 in Pelham. “I’m the team physician for the (Pelham High School) football team, and my picture is on the wall in the school.”
Over the past six months Andrews Sports Medicine has been working to establish its orthopedic and sports medicine services at its newest location near the intersection of U.S. 31 and Yeager Parkway.
In addition to Casey, the Pelham location will also be staffed by Dr. Ricardo Colberg, who recently completed his fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute.
“I want to thank the Pelham community,” Colberg said. “We’ve been offering services here for six months, and we’ve had a wonderful reception from the community and the schools.”
The new Andrews Sports Medicine location will operate alongside Champion Sports Medicine, which offers sports injury rehabilitation, physical therapy and work conditioning services, among others.
“Welcome to Pelham, we are glad you’re here,” Pelham Mayor Gary Waters told those gathered at the opening ceremony.
