MONTEVALLO—Saturday, Feb. 22, the city of Montevallo will host its 22nd annual Arbor Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Orr Park Recreation Building.
“It’s one of the largest and most variable Arbor Days in Alabama,” said Arbor Day chair Herschel Hale. “We get a crowd on pretty days and a crowd on bad days. It’s amazing.”
More than 1.400 trees and tree seedlings will be available for adoption as well as drawings for large tress and planting supplies. Activities at the festival will include demonstrations on proper tree planting, pruning and care.
In addition, a panel of urban and community tree experts will be on hand to answer any questions about trees.
Randy Glover from Centreville will have a display of his pictures of the Cahaba Lilies, and Tim Tingle will host a walking tour of his tree carvings in Orr Park.
Members of the Montevallo Trail Committee will be present with pictures and maps of Montevallo’s walking trails.
