Winter storm affects county sports [UPDATED]

With the outbreak of severe winter weather, several sporting events within Shelby County have been cancelled or postponed. This list will be updated as updates are received. Please check back with Shelbycountyreporter.com for more updates.
Adjustments to schedules are as follows:
CALERA
– All events until Friday, Jan. 31 have been cancelled, including the Jan. 28 boys and girls’ basketball games against Shelby County High and wrestling match against Prattville Christian. Thompson boys’ head basketball coach Patrick Davis wrote in a text message recieved at 9:47 a.m. on Jan. 31 that the Thompson-Calera basketball games have been cancelled.
SPAIN PARK
– The Jaguars’ boys basketball team is tentatively scheduled to play on the road at Weaver High Jan. 31.
KINGWOOD
– The Kingwood Christian School’s boys and girls basketball teams will be participating in the AISA regional basketball tournament. The tournament’s opening has been moved from Jan. 30 to Jan 31. The boys will begin play against Monroe Academy Friday, Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. The girls will open up with Morgan Friday at 4:30 p.m.
SHELBY COUNTY HIGH
– As of 6:20 p.m. on Jan. 29, the Wildcats’ rescheduling of events is still under evaluation, according to Athletic Director Brent Smith via text message.
CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN
– The Chargers are also participating in the AISA regional tournament. The game dates have changed from Jan. 30-Feb. 1 to Jan 31-Feb. 2. The times of the games have yet to be announced.
MONTEVALLO
– The Bulldogs’ boys and girls basketball teams’ games against Westminster-Oak Mountain have been rescheduled for Saturday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Senior Night festivites will take place on that date.
PELHAM [UPDATE]
– Thompson boys’ head basketball coach Patrick Davis wrote in a text message recieved at 9:47 a.m. Jan. 31 that the games versus Calera have been cancelled, and games against Pelham have been moved to Feb. 3.
CHELSEA
-Athletic Director Michael Stallings wrote via email that the basketball games vs. Montevallo on Jan. 30 were cancelled, but all other events were on normal schedule.
THOMPSON [UPDATED]
-Boys’ head basketball coach Patrick Davis wrote in a text message recieved at 9:47 a.m. Jan. 31 that the games versus Calera have been cancelled, and games against Pelham have been moved to Feb. 3.
WESTMINSTER
– The Jan. 31 basketball matchup with Indian Springs has been cancelled.
