VINCENT – The Grave Diggers chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club, a law-abiding motorcycle club with chapters worldwide, is hosting a toy drive this Christmas to help needy families provide presents to their children for Christmas.
Unopened toys are currently being collected every Thursday at 41425 Alabama 25 in Vincent until Dec. 22.
Chapter President Spyder Ellison, aka Webb, said the toy drive began with members of the club donating toys to distribute at the Vincent Christmas parade Dec. 5. After seeing the smiles on the children’s faces when they gave away the toys at the parade, Ellison said club members decided to expand the drive and continue collecting toys until Dec. 22.
Ellison said the club gave toys to about a dozen families at the parade.
“When you bring tears to someone’s eyes and smiles on the kids’ faces, that’s priceless to me,” Ellison said. “It’s about the children and about the community. We just want to let people know that we’re not outlaws, and we’re not fancy fools. We’re here to help the community, and if anybody needs any help, come to us and we’ll try our best to help them.”
Ellison said the club would likely bring the unopened toys to Vincent City Hall to distribute them to families in need.
“The more toys we take in, the more families we can help,” Ellison said.
Anyone interested in donating unopened toys can contact Ellison at 453-2020. No cash will be accepted.
