Suspect charged in fatal Iron Bowl party shooting

HOOVER — The suspect in a fatal shooting at an Iron Bowl Party has been charged with murder.
Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, of Birmingham, will be transferred from the Hoover City Jail to the Shelby County Jail, Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said in a Dec. 2 news release. Briskey will be held in the Shelby County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
Briskey allegedly shot Michelle Lacette Shepherd, 36, of Birmingham during an Iron Bowl party at about 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at the Summerchase at Riverchase apartments at 100 Summerchase Drive. The two women, both Alabama fans who did not know each other prior to the party, got into an argument after the game ended, according to police.
Police say the argument moved outside and a physical altercation ensued. It was then Briskey allegedly shot Shepherd with a small caliber handgun. Shepherd was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are working to determine what started the fight.
Hoover Police detectives met with Shelby County District Attorney Robby Owens Dec. 2 to determine whether criminal charges would be filed against Briskey.
