Hobson E. Vansant, age 78, of Shelby, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Sept. 25 at Bolton Funeral Home of Columbiana with Rev. Howard Brasher officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hobson was retired from Alabama Power Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby where he was the oldest deacon serving of 51 years and with the Shelby Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. Vansant is survived by his wife, Elsie Vansant; sons, Andy Vansant (Amy), Paul Vansant; granddaughter, Ava Vansant; brother, J.D. Stinson; and a host of other family and friends.
