Rebels back on track with win

Coosa Valley Academy brought its record to .500 with a victory at Crenshaw Christian Sept. 13. The Rebels never trailed in the contest, winning 31-8.
Zach Sharp opened scoring two minutes into the game with a field goal to put the Rebels up 3-0.
Later in the first, Zach Spratlin hit Colton Pate on a 17-yard pass to put make the score 10-0 in favor of CVA.
Niko Teofilo got in on the scoring action when he broke a 17-yard run to give the Rebels a 17-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Teofilo scored on a 3-yard run set up by a 56-yard carry by Bradley Carroll. Crenshaw was able to return a kickoff for a touchdown, also converting a two-point play to make it 24-8, in favor of CVA.
The final points of the contest came when Teofilo took another 3-yard run in for a touchdown on the first drive of the half. Up 31-8, the Rebels made use of their underclassmen to get them experience.
“Our defense stepped up,” said head coach Arlton Hudson. “(It was a) big district win for us. We’re headed in the right direction.”
The Rebels will travel to Fairfield to take on the defending AISA Class A champion Restoration Academy Bulldogs Sept. 20.
