CALERA – A Shelby County woman has been charged with murder, driving under the influence and reckless driving after a head-on collision with a motorcycle Sept. 5. The driver of the motorcycle was killed on the scene.

Amanda Rhoden Kizzire was driving an SUV when she collided with David Bryant, 35, of Chilton County, who was driving a motorcycle, according to Sgt. Deven Heathcock with the Calera Police Department. The wreck occurred within Calera city limits on U.S. 31, just south of the Shelby-Chilton county line and north of Chilton County 95, Heathcock said.

After an initial investigation, Kizzire was arrested and charged with murder, driving under the influence and reckless driving Sept. 10, according to C.J. Robinson with the Chilton County District Attorney’s office. Kizzire was then arrested and brought to the Chilton County Jail, where she is currently being held on bonds totaling more than $150,000.

Robinson said the investigation is still ongoing and no other details can be released at this time. Kizzire has a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse.
