Man taken into custody after making threats to himself, others

NORTH SHELBY – Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies took a man into custody Aug. 16 after he was reportedly threatening harm to himself and others, according to a press release.
Sheriff’s deputies responded at approximately 12:40 p.m. to a call from the 400 building of Stonecrest Apartments in north Shelby County near U.S. 280.
The resident was said to exhibit erratic behavior and refused to cooperate with deputies when they arrived, resulting in a brief standoff, the press release said.
After talking to the resident, deputies trained in crisis negotiation were able to take him into custody. He was then evaluated on the scene and taken to an area hospital for evaluation, the press release said.
No one was injured during the incident, and no charges have been filed at this time. The suspect’s name has also not been released.
