Alabaster Arts Council President and CityFest organizer Adam Moseley said he is preparing for the largest festival Alabaster has ever hosted this weekend.
“There’s a buzz in the county and a buzz in central Alabama this year that I haven’t seen before,” Moseley said two days before the June 1 festival was set to kick off. “I think we are going to have a great event with a great crowd this year.”
This year’s CityFest will have to top the 2012 event’s record attendance of about 70,000 to be crowned the city’s largest. Moseley said the caliber of performers at this year’s event could set a new attendance high. This year’s event also will include a visit from the National Guard’s stock car driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr.
“You won’t find anywhere else in the state an event of this magnitude and with this caliber of talent that is free,” Moseley said. “It’s these local businesses and local corporations that sponsor CityFest every year to make sure it’s free to the public.”
After the CityFest 5K run at 8 a.m., CityFest will begin at Municipal Park at 9 a.m. featuring vendors, a car show at kid’s activities.
