INDIAN SPRINGS — In a bid to increase campus security after recent incidents on school campuses both local and nationwide, Indian Springs School will have constant security guard coverage at the campus front gate.
Security guards will now man the front gate 24 hours a day, according to school Director Gareth Vaughan.
“Our goal is to do all that we can to keep the Indian Springs School community safe while also continuing to be accessible for the many activities that we host on campus, from school-year sporting events to our summer Friday afternoon organic produce sales, which are open to the public,” Vaughan said.
School officials made the decision to have security guards at the front gate constantly after doing an annual re-evaluation of the school’s security policy, Vaughan said.
“During the re-evaluation, we made use of our strong working relationship with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and sought advice from Sheriff Chris Curry, whom we applaud for his commitment to improving security at public and private schools countywide,” Vaughan said.
