Oak Mountain rallies past Spain Park

PELHAM – The Oak Mountain Eagles softball team rallied from a 2-run deficit in the third to take a 7-4 win over the Spain Park Lady Jags to open the Class 6A, Area 8 tournament May 2.
Spain Park held a 3-1 lead after the top of the third, but the Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the inning for a 3-3 score. Oak Mountain pulled way with three runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth to seal the 7-4 win.
Anne Thomaston pitched seven innings for the win and allowed four runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Madeline Porter led the Eagles with a 3-for-4 effort with a home run and three RBIs. Ashlee Sanders went 3-for-4 with a triple.
Haleigh Sisson pitched six innings in the loss for Spain Park and allowed six earned runs on 12 hits with two walks. Brittany Anderson went 1-for-3 with a RBI to lead the Lady Jags.
