A former Spain Park High School science teacher, arrested last year for allegedly having sex with a student, will see her case go to a grand jury.
After Stephanie Suggs Millard had a preliminary hearing in Shelby County District Court in front of Judge Dan Reeves May 1, Reeves gave an order to have the case bound over to the grand jury for a possible indictment, according to Criminal Court Supervisor Jill Smitherman.
Millard, 33, was arrested by Hoover Police Dec. 27, 2012 after an investigation revealed she had engaged in a sexual relationship with a then-17-year-old Spain Park student in March and April of 2012, according to previous reports.
Millard is no longer employed by Hoover City Schools.
She has been charged with two counts of a school employee having sex with a student under the age of 19, and is free on a total bond of $30,000.
