Falcons finish seventh in men’s golf conference tournament

PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men’s golf team finished seventh in team standings in the Peach Belt Conference championship tournament April 21 at Callaway Gardens.
The Falcons, who collectively carded a 16-over par 304 in the final round, finished with a three-round total of 38-over par 902. Montevallo, which led the field after carding a 7-over par 295 in the first round, finished ahead of Lander University, North Georgia, Flagler College and UNC Pembroke in the conference tournament.
USC Aiken won the conference championship after shooting a three-round total of 9-over par 873. Columbus State finished runner-up with a 11-over par 875, followed by Armstrong Atlantic State in third place with a 22-over par 886.
Junior Conner Godsey, who led the team with a 2-under par 70 in the final round, paced the Falcons with a three-round total of 3-over par 219. Godsey, who finished with six birdies in the final round, finished in a four-way tie for fifth overall in individual standings.
Matt Atkins of USC Aiken claimed the conference tournament’s individual championship after shooting a three-round total of 4-under par 212.
Senior Andrew Lowry, who finished with a three-round total over 7-over par 223, finished 20th overall in individual standings. Freshman Dalton Skinner carded a three-round total of 12-over par 228, which placed him in a tie for 28th overall in individual standings.
Freshman Juan Noce, who posted a three-round total of 24-over par 240, finished a tie for 48th overall in individual standings. Fellow freshman Jordan Campbell rounded out the group of Montevallo golfers with his 28-over par 244, which placed him in a tie for 50th overall in individual standings.
