Calera Police investigating alleged rape

CALERA — The Calera Police Department is investigating an alleged rape and has taken a suspect into custody, according to Police Chief Sean Lemley.
The department received a report of a rape on April 9 and conducted an investigation. After the investigation, Calera officers obtained a warrant for the arrest of Harry Vester Jones, 49, of Calera.
Jones has been charged with first-degree rape. His bond was set at $60,000, according to a Calera Police Department press release.
The alleged victim is 39 and is not a Calera resident. Her identity is not being released because of the ongoing investigation, according to the release.
