Falcons continue to move up in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll

TUSCON, Ariz. – The University of Montevallo baseball team is ranked No. 14 in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II poll, which was released April 8.

The Falcons moved up two spots in the most recent poll from their No. 16 ranking last week after picking up a pair of non-conference wins over West Alabama and nationally-ranked UAH. Montevallo has been ranked in the top 30 in the poll for five consecutive weeks.

The Falcons are also ranked in the latest College Baseball Lineup and D2BaseballNews.com NCAA Division II polls.

Montevallo (25-12 overall, 13-8 in Peach Belt Conference) is one of four Peach Belt Conference schools ranked in the top 25 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper poll.

USC Aiken is the highest ranking team from the conference in the national poll. The Pacers moved up one spot and are ranked No. 9 nationally in the most recent poll.

Lander University, which dropped seven spots in the latest poll, is ranked No. 10 nationally. The Falcons are ranked No. 14 in the latest poll, followed by UNC Pembroke at No. 16 in the national poll.

Montevallo owns a 7-7 record against teams ranked in the top 25 in the poll, which included three hard-fought losses on the road at top-ranked Delta State University.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday, April 9 with a non-conference game against Miles College. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

Montevallo returns to Peach Belt Conference action with a three-game series on the road April 13-14 at Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.

First pitch in the series opener is set for Saturday, April 13 at noon CST.
