Falcons move up two spots in College Baseball Lineup poll

MONTEVALLO – The University of Montevallo baseball team moved up to No. 17 in the latest College Baseball Lineup NCAA Division II poll following a pair of victories over West Alabama and nationally-ranked UAH last week.
The Falcons debuted at No. 19 in the national poll last week. This week marks the second consecutive week Montevallo has been ranked in the poll.
The Falcons (25-12 overall, 13-8 in Peach Belt Conference) opened the week with a 2-1 win on the road April 2 at West Alabama. Montevallo completed a season sweep of UAH with a 6-4 win over the nationally-ranked Chargers on the road April 3.
The Falcons are one of four Peach Belt Conference schools ranked in the top 25 in the poll.
Lander University dropped three spots to No. 5 in the national poll, while USC Aiken remained steady at No. 6 in the poll.
UNC Pembroke remained at No. 14 in the most recent poll, followed by the Falcons at No. 17.
The Falcons own a 7-7 record against teams ranked in the top 25 in the poll, which included three hard-fought losses on the road at top-ranked Delta State University.

The Falcons return to action Tuesday, April 9 with a non-conference game against Miles College. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
Montevallo returns to Peach Belt Conference action with a three-game series on the road April 13-14 at Francis Marion University in Florence, S.C.
First pitch in the series opener is set for Saturday, April 13 at noon CST.
