Pelham downs Oak Mountain, 10-2

The Pelham Panthers softball team avenged one of its two losses on the season in a 10-2 home victory over the Oak Mountain Lady Eagles in Class 6A, Area 8 action March 26.
The Panthers (19-2) fell to Oak Mountain 2-0 at the Wetumpka tournament March 9.
Oak Mountain started the scoring on a Chloe Yeager home run in the second to give the Lady Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Pelham evened the score on a RBI single by Jordan Ingram, and then took the lead on back-to-back RBI doubles by Kristian Foster and Caitlyn Sapp to give the Lady Panthers a 3-1 advantage.
The Lady Panthers extended their lead to six in the third when Foster hit a bases-loaded double to center to give Pelham a 7-1 lead.
Oak Mountain’s Caroline Seitz hit a home run in the top of the fourth to cut the lead to five, but Pelham responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added a run in the sixth to seal the 10-2 win.
Foster led Pelham batting 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored. Madi Walker added a pair of doubles while batting 2-for-3. Emily Spain added a 3-for-4 effort with a RBI.
Yeager finished the game with a 1-for-3 effort while Seitz was 1-for-4 to lead the Oak Mountain offense.
Whitney Gillespie pitched seven innings in the win allowing two runs on four hits with seven strikeouts and a walk.
Yeager took the loss for Oak Mountain allowing three earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
