Thompson shuts out Chelsea, holds off Hillcrest

The Thompson Warriors picked up victories over Chelsea and Hillcrest March 9.

Thompson (15-4) began the day with an 8-0 win over Chelsea. Mason MacDougall stuck out eight while allowing no runs on five hits. Brennan Pritchard went 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored to lead the Warriors. Trevor Flynn added a 2-for-2 performance with a RBI while Trey Matherson went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored.

Davis Shoemaker led Chelsea batting 2-for-3 with two doubles.

The Warriors ended the day with a 9-5 extra inning victory over Hillcrest. Thompson scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take the win.

Flynn led Thompson batting 3-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Matherson added a 2-for-4 effort with two RBIs and a double.

Stephan Poplin picked up the win pitching an inning and two-thirds with two strikeouts. Drew Avans pitched an inning and had a strikeout and a walk for the save.
