Montevallo sweeps doubleheader against Vincent

The Montevallo Bulldogs rallied in the bottom of the seventh to take a 6-5 victory over Vincent in game one of a doubleheader Feb. 27.
The Bulldogs (4-0) led 4-0 heading into the final inning, but Vincent erupted for five runs to take a 5-4 advantage into the bottom half of the frame. Montevallo answered with a pair of runs to take the 6-5 game-one victory.
Montevallo’s Preston Burns went 2-for-3 with three RBIs to lead the Bulldogs. Zack Sweat was 2-for-3 with a RBI while Chase Hamrick homered for Montevallo.
Vincent’s Daniel Hawkins finished 3-for-4 with a RBI to lead the Yellow Jackets. Chase Howard added a 2-for-2 effort with a RBI.
Will Snyder pitched Montevallo to the victory in two-thrids of an inning of work. Taylor Brown took the loss for Vincent.
Montevallo sealed the sweep with a 7-3 win in game two.
Jonathan Pintaro pitched five innings for the Bulldogs while striking out eight Vincent batters and allowing just one earned run.
Matthew Parker led Montevallo batting 3-for-3 with a RBI. Trevor Chatham added a home run for the Bulldogs.
