VINCENT – The youth group members of Calvary Baptist Church in Vincent are looking to take their drama performance on the road.

The about 20 students in the drama, called “Set Me Free,” are in grades sixth through 12th.

“They’ve done it at our church, and they were interested in going to some other churches,” Youth Director Becky Carroll said.

The drama involves students wearing T-shirts with different things that are “nagging at our children these days,” Carroll said. “Drugs, alcohol, bullying, drama. The girl in the drama has chains around her. She is just bound by all these things that are pulling in this direction. The devil is there, and he’s pulling her in his direction. God appears, and everyone collapses. God takes the chains away.”

After the group discovered the drama and began practicing, they fell in love with the message.

“They loved it,” Carroll said. “We had a youth night on a Sunday night, and they did it there. We invited several of the area churches to join us.”

Carroll said the youth drama team is interested in performing at churches or other events. For more information, contact Carroll at carrollrebecca@att.net.
