All major highways are under an icy roads advisory from the Alabama Department of Transportation.

According to the ALDOT website, icy patches have developed, particularly on bridges, and residents are encouraged to drive with “extreme caution.”

As of 5:15 a.m., road crews are continuing to sand the roads to prevent additional hazardous road conditions due to freezing temperatures.

The ALDOT website states the icy road advisory should be resolved at 10 a.m. Jan 18.
