I knew something about what went on at One Nineteen, but I didn’t know a lot. I decided to find out more about what was offered and arranged to meet with Lauren Nichols, St. Vincent’s marketing and communication manager, and Scott Goggins, service integration manager, at One Nineteen.

St. Vincent’s One Nineteen is located across U.S. 119 from the Church at Brook Hills, at the rear entrance to Greystone, less than a mile from the intersection of U.S. 119 and U.S. 280.

Goggins explained “since the facility opened in January 2005, it has remained dedicated to the principal of providing an integrated health and wellness facility that folks in North Shelby County can use to improve and maintain their own unique health goals.” So what does that mean?

One Nineteen, said Nichols, “is over 154,000 square feet in one place dedicated to helping you maintain health.”

That includes Fitness One Nineteen, encompassing 55,000 square feet housing 187 pieces of exercise equipment, all of which were new in January 2012.

The fitness facility members also have access to the salt water lap pool and whirlpool, indoor jogging track, spinning and free weights.

Physical therapy is adjacent to this area, allowing their use of needed equipment. Aquatic therapy has a special pool near the lap pool.

Medically, 40 doctors from 14 specialties are at St. Vincent’s One Nineteen on a full time or shared time basis.

“One Nineteen has its own pharmacy, vision center, juice bar,” Nichols said, “and the impressive Spa One Nineteen,” where manicures, pedicures, massages, facials and all kinds of special treatments are available in very quiet and private accommodations.
