CALERA – HH Accounting in Calera has recently been rebranded as Partners Tax and Acounting LLC.

Partners Tax and Accounting now has two branches in Shelby County, as the company acquired an office on U.S. 280 near The Village at Lee Branch. The company also has branches in Birmingham and Center Point.

In 2004, HH Accounting merged with Birmingham Tax Service, but in 2010 when HH Accounting added a third office in Center Point, the company decided to rebrand to prevent confusion, according to Brett Sheedy, operational president.

Partners Tax and Accounting offers tax and bookkeeping services, such as outsourcing an accountant to assist individuals or business owners in operating QuickBooks or other personal accounting services.

“We’re a retail bookkeeping and tax return business,” Sheedy said. “We want to fill the gap of people doing it themselves and accounting firms who are going to do it all and charge a large fee.”

In terms of bookkeeping services, Partners Tax and Accounting assists small business owners in filing sales tax reports to avoid penalties with state or other local entities.

Sheedy recommended individuals and business owners consult a tax professional who is knowledgeable about upcoming changes while preparing to file taxes.

Sheedy said he anticipates some “major tax changes” in the future, as the former President George W. Bush-era tax cuts, which President Barack Obama extended, will end this year.

“We all know tax changes are coming between now and when you file your taxes,” Sheedy said. “We can’t say what they are yet.”
