HARPERSVILLE- Bessemer Academy blew open a 14-7 third quarter lead to win convincingly 49-7, over Coosa Valley High School on Oct. 19 at Coosa Valley.
Coosa Valley coach Alton Hudson said his team was just overmatched.
“Their speed was the difference in the game,” Hudson said. “We couldn’t match up.”
Bessemer Academy took a 14-0 lead into the half after two long touchdown runs. Coosa Valley fought back to close the gap to 14-7 with a Ryan Brooks 2-yard touchdown run.
Unfortunately for the Rebels, Bessemer Academy ran back the ensuing kickoff and Coosa Valley could never recover.
“We ran the ball well all night, but just couldn’t defend them,” Hudson said.
The Rebels play Chambers Academy in their last game of the season next week, Oct. 26.
