The Briarwood Christian volleyball team picked up their first Class 5A, Area 9 victory with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 sweep of Homewood at home Sept. 18.

Mariah Light led Briarwood (17-6, 1-1 in area play) with 14 kills with Madison Chambers and Jennie Reese each scoring eight kills. Adeline Reiser had a team-high 23 assists and three aces.

Hope Donohue led the defense with 16 digs while Reese had two blocks.

Briarwood will face Benjamin Russell and Carver in a three-team match on the road Sept. 20.
