Falcons edge Belmont in exhibition match

The University of Montevallo men’s soccer team edged Division I Belmont University 1-0 in its second exhibition match Aug. 19 in Nashville, Tenn.
Pierre Omanga netted the game-winning goal, unassisted, in the 88th minute of the contest.
Omanga and Pedro Carneiro led the Falcons with two shots each in the match. Mike Rinzema and Jackson Tolleson attempted one shot each.
Montevallo goalkeepers Brendan Ledgeway, John Oprandy and John Evans combined to post the shutout.
Ledgeway handled the goalkeeping duties in the first half, while Oprandy and Evans split time at goalkeeper in the second half.
Montevallo will host the University of Mobile in its final exhibition match at Varsity Field Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The Falcons open the regular season Aug. 31 on the road at Eckerd College.
