Pelham High School rising junior Jack Pierce has been chosen to participate in the USA Baseball Mid-Atlantic National Team Identification Series.
Pierce, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound left-handed pitcher, shined in multiple evaluation events throughout the region’s six states — Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Mississippi — and has been part of teams at the 16-and-under and 17-and-under age groups. Pierce will represent the Mid-Atlantic region in a series of games at the National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. on Aug. 23-26.
“We are very excited about the teams at each group,” said Jeff Schaefer, Mid-Atlantic NTIS Regional Director. “After evaluating over 300 players in our region we believe we have found the cream of the crop and are looking forward to showing everyone what baseball in our region is all about.”
Teams in each age group will play a total of three nine-inning games in the National Team Identification Series. USA Baseball will name a minimum of eight players to the 2013 18-and-under National Team Trials (18U), as well as a minimum of eight players to the 2013 17-and-under National Team Development Program.
