MONTEVALLO – Montevallo-Wilton National Night Out will be held Aug. 7.

Local police and public safety personnel will attend the event at Montevallo First Baptist Church from 5-7 p.m.

“It’s a great way for everybody to get to know the firefighters, policeman and politicians,” Wilton Town Clerk April Price said.

Price said parents can pick up national child identification kids, which include inkless fingerprint kits and tools for collecting DNA samples.

” We’ll be there and can do it onsite,” Price said. “If anything will ever happen, you’ll have it.

“If nothing else, you get a free hotdog, a bag of chips and a drink. It’s a good, fun, family night that isn’t going to cost anything, but what you get in return is your child’s safety,” she added. “It really gives us a step up for police and fire to try locate them.”
