OMHS student crowned in Leeds

A North Shelby girl was recently crowned Miss Leeds Area Outstanding Teen 2013.

Brooklyn Holt, 15, was chosen during the pageant at Leeds High School June 23. The Outstanding Teen program is part of the Miss Alabama and Miss America organizations.

Holt is a rising sophomore at Oak Mountain High School. She is currently ranked No. 1 academically in her class, which includes 443 students.

Holt is a majorette with the Spirit of Cahaba Marching Band and has been a member of Oak Mountain’s traveling competitive show choirs for the last three years.

Her platform is titled “Raise Your Voice for Children.” She recently recorded a CD titled “Raise Your Voice” and travels throughout Alabama to sing, with all donations going to Children’s Miracle Network.

She will represent the Leeds area in March 2013 as she competes for Miss Alabama Outstanding Teen in Sylacauga.
